If you have similar RPing experience to mine, you've had that sadistic, evil GM who will, in the last gaming session your characters will ever be alive,
"I'm sorry, when did your characters last use the washroom?"
This is the worst thing ever. Especially when you consider the pale, nervous players who for years afterward will every hour of gaming yell "I pee!".
We really do not need this. It is fairly safe to assume that you do these things when the need arises, away from the watchful eye of the plot.
Now let's just take this a step further. Remember in that action movie, book, or game when that guy fell off of that thing or left for some reason? And then when you didn't expect it he suddenly appeared in a fight scene to save everyone and be badass?
Wouldn't that have sucked if you had needed to watch everything the character had been doing while he wasn't in the plot? I agree.
They can go Off-Camera, and you can too.
Off-Camera is the state in which your character's actions are not being covered by the narrative.
How do you go Off-Camera?
Just drop out of the story for some reason? Maybe you left the building, fell off a cliff, or announced "I'm going to the washroom." But until your whereabouts are revealed you are unaccounted for.
Why go Off-Camera?
Your character might be a stealthy type who keeps to the shadows because of being so mysterious.
You might want to reappear with some sort of new surprise.
You might not be able to post for a while and not want to hold everyone else up.
What can you do Off-Camera?
When you're Off-Camera, you can basically reappear anywhere as long as you can explain afterwards how and why you got there.
How does being Off-Camera affect the numbers?
For obvious reasons, you won't gain any Closure Points when you're not in the story.
When you return from Off-Camera, consider your AP restored to full.
